BIO

I am an independent web developer and consultant in Massachusetts. I hold a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Detroit School of Architecture with a minor in Fine Art. After working for the acclaimed international architectural firm, Arquitectonica, I chose to pursue painting and web development. Currently, I work with marketing firms, designers, and other web specialists devising creative and practical solutions for web and mobile applications.

My paintings have been shown in both solo and group shows throughout the eastern US and Canada, and were featured in New American Paintings.

STATEMENT

I have lived near some of the greatest bird and wildlife sanctuaries in the Eastern U.S., including the Everglades, the Catskills, and now Cape Cod. The birds inhabiting and passing through these areas have been a constant inspiration for my art.

I use fabric patterns as backgrounds for my bird paintings as a symbol of the much larger patterns of nature that one may not see or recognize in a casual observation. In contrast, I think painting one isolated bird within a frame anthropomorphizes and individualizes an instance of the species.
